Message From the Dean
Welcome to our website. It introduces you to one of the most dynamic leadership centers in American higher education today. Our many programs, events and initiatives are designed to help students gain a deeper understanding of leadership, practice their leadership skills, and in the process grow as a leader; hence, our key themes - knowledge, action, and growth. The Center houses the McDonough Leadership Program, open to undergraduate students in all fields of study through a competitive application process. Students who are selected to participate in this program are designated McDonough Scholars at Marietta College. McDonough Scholars can pursue a certificate, minor or major in leadership studies. Drawing from our focus on a liberal-arts education, the program offers many fascinating seminars, community service projects, and leadership skill-building opportunities. Aside
from the academic programs for undergraduate students, the Center has
two offices that advance its educational mission - the Office
of Civic Engagement (OCE) and the Office
of Business Leadership Development (OBLD). OCE coordinates the Center's
service projects and volunteer activities for all students at Marietta
College. OBLD focuses on executive education in the for-profit sector,
including the Executive-in-Residence Program and the summer International
Business Leadership Module for foreign MBA students. Gama Perruci, Ph.D. Dean of the McDonough Center |
